This issue has Azzarello gearing up for the final showdown between Diana and the First Born.

As Hippolyta and her Amazons attempt to "hold the centre", the First Born boast how he will slay them all in this final conflict. Meanwhile, as Diana feels her life slipping away, she sees a vision of Ares who brings her comfort. The image of Ares fades and she realises that Strife is actually standing over her. reveling in seeing the Amazon Princess in utter defeat. But when she realises that Diana's passing will give Wonder Woman relief from the burden of being the God of War, she decides she is not quite so ready to see the Amazon Princess die just yet and transports her back into the thick of the fight on Themyscira. After reuniting with her mother, Diana realises that the only way they can win this war is to ensure the prophecy is foretold and for Zola's child to take the throne. As Diana and her companions are transported back to Olympus courtesy of Hera however, they find their way barred by Poseidon!
