Comments:

Azzrello's ponderous epic continues towards its final climax in issue 36.

Plot Summary:

While the Amazons continue for War and Diana gives Aleka the responsibility to protect Zola and Zeke, Artemis and Eros set out to rescue Hermes from Hell. However, they find Hermes gone and that the First Born has already destroyed the realm of "Death" and has returned to Olympus to prepare his next move - to destroy the realm of life itself. While he plots however, Strife turns up and ignoring his threats to slay her as he has done to the other gods, she plots to be his next bride.

Demeter finds herself under attack from Cassandra, who arrives fighting Hermes. The Goddess quickly deals with the woman however only to come under attack from the Minotaur. As Artemis and Eros arrive to assist, they are soon also joined by Wonder Woman who takes the brute down. But The First Born has also arrived and begins to destroy the tree of life. Diana orders the others to make their escape back to Paradise Island as she confronts the First Born, using a flaming arrow to set fire to the shattered wood now surrounding him. But as the flames engulf him he ensnares the Amazon Princess, dragging her into the inferno.

Back at the safety of Paradise Island, the escapees inform the others that Diana stayed behind to buy them time and that they are unsure if she has survived. Hermes says he "fears the worst". Just then a boom tube opens and Orion and Milan fly into view. The demigod announces "Then it's a good thing I'm here!"
