As a life long Wonder Woman fan, I find this issue to contain a couple of disturbingly gruesome pieces of dialogue regarding Diana. After her autopsy (which we thankfully do not see!) two morticians carry her remains down to the morgue. One comments "Man, that was grim! Never thought I'd have to load what's left of Wonder Woman into a body bag" and when it becomes clear she is alive as the bag begins to move... "She can't be!! I had her brain in my hands for cripes sake!" . Once again, many fans felt that Byrne had little real respect for the character and what she truly stands for, relagating DC's most iconic superheroine to merely another "female victim".

Diana's body is finally killed outright in a failed body transfer experiment
attempted by Dr Zeul. As an autopsy is performed to ascertain the actual cause
of death Hippolyta prays to the Gods of Olympus, who duly answer her request
and resurrect the Amazon Princess as a new deity known as the "Goddess
of Truth".
