Synopsis

As Ares advances on the Prime Minister Wonder Woman tries to make him see reason and that he is not the enemy and is, in fact, here to sue for peace. But the War God is not interested and so she takes him down with her lasso. But as she apologises to the Prime Minister, Ares throws her off balance and takes the lasso from her.

But he is no match for her mastery of the golden rope and when he attempts to ensnare her, she deftly deflects the attempt and reacquires the lasso. She then makes her own move and manages to wound him with her sword, forcing him to fall to his knees.

At that moment though Aphrodite orders them to stop fighting. She reveals herself to him to be his ex lover, the Goddess of Love, and tells him that in his rush to absolve himself has he not thought for one moment what the mortals themselves want for their future? She then leans in and whispers something in his ear and he visibly sags, begging her to take the words back but she says he knows that they can never be taken back.

And so later the peace talks conclude and both warring parties agree terms, including the removal of all the Gods from their lands. Aphrodite wonders where they are expected to go and while the Amazon Princess says that she will of course agree to his wishes, she tells the Prime Minster that she had only come here to help. He replies that he had called in his U.S. allies without considering the cost to his own people and she had fought a battle that had little to do with the people living here. And now they must all live with the consequences.

Wonder Woman asks the Goddess of Love where she will go and she replies “With you of course”. But she adds that Ares will always be destined to follow wherever conflict resides.

The Amazing Amazon approaches the War God as he surveys the ruined city below them. He asks if this is what peace looks like and she replies that once the city has been rebuilt and life returns to normal then peace will have also returned. He tells her he is unsure what he should do in a world rife with conflict and will seek the wisdom of Athena.

He asks if they part as enemies and Wonder Woman replies that while they do not part as friends she has no wish to make an enemy of someone who sincerely wants to change their ways. He smiles and says that he will content himself with that, before adding that she had not bested him and that he knows her limits now, but she does not yet know his.

Later still Wonder Woman and Steve visit the recovering Etta in her hospital bed. After chatting the Amazon Princess says she needs some fresh air to clear her head and Steve asks if she is alright. She replies she is fine but he knows she is troubled.

She flies to a cliff edge looking out across the ocean, wondering if her Mother and Amazon sisters still live and asking the Gods for a sign. But they do not reply.
