A mysterious villain known as Leviathan seeks out the aid of mobster Ms Leone as to how to take down Superman. She tells him that everybody always tries to take him on physically but when it boils down to it, Kal is just a lonely boy and that is how you defeat – phycologically.
Meanwhile Superman sees a group of thugs awaiting him in his apartment, clearly looking to kidnap Clark Kent, and tells Lois that he is going to play along as there is a good story here.
But things turn awry when he finds his captor is Talia al Ghul who unwittingly is using Clark as bait to lure Superman – and attaches a Kryptonite laced jacket on the reporter – unaware that it will weaken and eventually kill Clark.
Lois becomes worried when she hears nothing more from her husband and so summons the league to help locate him.
Back at the base, which is now being evacuated, Leviathan releases Clark and apologises, before leaving him to be discovered by the league and rescued.
In the escape craft Leviathan reprimands Talia for acting rashly and interfering with his plans. He tells her he will eventually convince Superman and the other heroes that what the world he is going to build is, in fact, always what they had strived for – and that they will willingly join him.
He then hurls Talia out of the craft they are travelling in but Superman saves her. He asks who Leviathan is but she juts asks him to take her to prison.
And so the mystery continues as everybody begins searching for the identity of this new foe, Leviathan.
