This mini-series features a scenario where Cyborg’s body is used as a carrier for a technological virus version of the Anti-Life Equation, turning the population into zombie-like creatures and including many of the heroes.
After the destruction of Washington D.C., Baltimore, and Metropolis, the heroes gather the world’s survivors to seek sanctuary on Themyscira and in Gotham City. As the heroes gather at the Fortress of Solitude to discuss evacuating the planet, they face an attack by one of the world’s most powerful heroes, Martian Manhunter, who has been transformed into a zombie.
Before Firestorm eventually stops him by engulfing him in fire and destroying him, he manages to kill Luthor and infects Flash, who sprints off around the world to infect the rest of the population. Superman gives chase and tears through the speedster’s body, killing him but in doing so gets punctured with some of the body parts and thus becoming infected.
While his Kryptonian metabolism slows down the infection rate and buys him some time, he knows he is finished and uses the last few remaining minutes to say goodbye to his friends and loved ones before launching up and away from the planet, hoping to get far enough away before he turns.
But he only gets as far as the upper atmosphere before Superman becomes the most dangerous host of the virus yet!
