Synopsis
The mysterious boy leads the three mystical beasts up a hill towards where an ancient ruined Greek temple stands, assuring them that he is taking them to safety. When they arrive they see a camp fire where other creatures are resting together with a captured and bound Steve Trevor.
Meanwhile Ares tells Wonder Woman how he had died and had been brought back to right the wrongs of the past. Like her, he now fights to bring justice, not war to the world. Suddenly they hear the scream of a rocket fired overhead and they both race to intercept it. As they grasp it Ares says they must turn it from its present course towards the town. The Amazon Princess assume she means to redirect it to a harmless field but instead he turns it to head to a village inhabited by the same people who had been responsible for firing the weapon.
Before she can stop it Wonder Woman watches in horror as women and children are obliterated. She smashes him to the ground and begins to fight him, as he tries to reason that by turning the weapon on the aggressor’s own people he has served rightful justice. She believes he is still the War God just pretending to be peaceful and that his intent all along was to bring violence and ensnaring him in her lasso, demands to know the truth.
But he is telling the truth and genuinely believes that his actions are the same as hers, because is that not why she carries a sword? She replies she only takes up arms against those who have done the same but he responds “Is the difference so clear?”
Suddenly they hear the roar or US fighter jets who have arrived in support of their allies. Ares launches up into the sky to take them down but Wonder Woman catches one of the falling planes and guides it safely back down to Earth. As she asks the dazed pilot if he is OK, Ares attacks her and knocks her to the floor.
He accuses her of aiding the tyrant against the oppressed and she is not worthy of the divine weapons she carries. He prepares to bring his axe down upon her dazed form…
Meanwhile at the temple, the creatures see Ares’ wrath in the form of a disturbance in the sky. Some do not believe the Gods are here but the boy says he has seen a woman who has communicated with them. Steve recognises he is describing Diana and finds a way to make an escape to find her.
But the creatures go after him and manage to capture him again. As they lead him away he asks where they are taking him and they tell him he is going to meet their leader, who he discovers is a woman…
