Aquaman, Wonder Woman and Firestorm are on a mission in the North Pole to locate the Graveyard of the Gods. As they make their way through the frozen landscape they find numerous wrecks of vessels from every era, who were all looking to find the same thing and clearly failed.
Meanwhile on Veracity Island, Superman, Flash and Adam Strange are fighting back an attack from Volcano Men while attempting to locate the Legion of doom’s base. Adam Strange confirms that there are traces of the base having been there but that it must have the ability to phase in and out. As Superman scans too and concurs, he picks up a trace of something having been fired up into deep space – some sort of beacon.
Transmitting back to the still recuperating Batman at the Hall of Justice, the Dark Knight tracks the beacon to an area of space coral – a sort of cosmic barrier reef. When he is asked if Green Lantern might know more about the area he replies that he is currently off grid with Hawkgirl and Martian Manhunter in investigating Thanagar Prime’s gravity well for more information on the Totality.
Batman also briefs Superman on how his probing of the still comatose Starman is progressing. From what he can determine Luthor has managed to erase half of his mind. But using a small piece of Starro, Batman has managed to glean that the Totality has left pieces of itself throughout time. There are shocking connections to the past that the league need to follow up on.
Back at the North Pole the heroes finally find the ship that Poseidon had been guiding them to and which had remained hidden for so long. Aquaman recognizes it as Arion’s, the first and greatest hero Atlantis ever knew. Wonder Woman adds that he was also a good friend of the Amazons too.
With Poseidon’s help he had built the The Clarion, a kind of cosmic Conch that was mean to call across the universe to other planets with life-filled oceans. As they investigate the ship Wonder Woman spots a section that appears to be wood but is actually Amazon alloy. Aquaman breaks it open to reveal what he suspects might be the key to the Graveyard of the Gods.
Suddenly they hear a rumble and a what appears to be some sort of Space Kraken attacks them. The liquid it is made of is not of this earth however and when it catches Firestorm it mutates him into a humanoid sea-creature. Monitoring the situation, Batman warns them to stay clear but as Aquaman attempts to help his colleague he is also caught and all three heroes are caught up in a whirlpool.
When Aquaman comes to he finds himself alone standing in front of the Triumvirate of Sea Gods. They greet him and introduce themselves, explaining how they have traveled from space to answer the beacon, just as they had once done millennia ago when Arion had called them.
Hearing this Aquaman is pleased and says he welcomes their aid in stopping the forces now threatening the earth but they reply that they are not here to help but to conquer. They add that a fleet of spacecraft has moved into position around the planet to act as a blockade and to make sure nobody escapes what is about to happen.
As Batman realises what is about to happen and sends out a call that the planet is under attack the Triumvirate of Sea Gods summon a planet wide flood that begins to drown the earth. As people are engulfed in the water they transform into aquatic creatures just like Firestorm had done.
And Aquaman wonders if even the league can save them now…
