This is an unusual issue as it does not actually feature Diana in it at all, but instead focuses entirely on Grail and her father, Darkseid.
This is an unusual issue as it does not actually feature Diana in it at all, but instead focuses entirely on Grail and her father, Darkseid.
Grail reflects on the past few months as her crusade to murder the children of Zeus continues so that she can drain their life force and then pass it onto her father, Darkseid to restore him to adult form.
At times she feels more like a other than a daughter, having to protect the mewling from A.R.G.U.S. who are trying to hunt them down. But Grail is more than a match for the troops, driven by her desire to prevent harm coming to Darkseid and her intent on restoring him to his former greatness. Though even in babe form, Darkseid is still a threat and uses his Omega Beams to kill his attackers.
Fleeing from this hideout he informs his daughter on the whereabouts of every child of Zeus and Grail does the rest. Some of her victims are powerful and put up a fight. Some are not so powerful and fall easily. And some are not even aware of their parentage and never know why they are cut down by Grail.
In the present day, having fed off many life forces collected by Grail, Darkseid is still only twelve years of age. Standing on a hillside of a small Mediterranean town he points to a boat in the harbour on which Jason stands. Grail can instantly feel he is a child of Zeus and when Darkseid tells her his name she instantly realises that he must be Wonder Woman’s long lost brother, whom her mother had told her about before she’d died and who she had thought to be just a myth.
As Grail readies herself assuming her father wants her to kill and drain the life force from Jason, Darkseid says that while Diana’s brother does indeed have a fight ahead of him, he has other opponents in mind. In fact, Jason has a greater role to play than meets the eye…
