With the rest of the Justice League captured and powerless it is down to Cyborg to hold out as the last member not to fall to the Dark Batmen. The Mother Box inside him tries to persuade him to submit completely so it can defeat them although it mean him giving up the last aspects of Victor Stone. Seeing that there seems no other way to defeat the Batmen he is about to submit but hears a voice pleading with him to remain strong and not to listen to the Mother Box. The voice encourages him to believe in the human inside him.
The Batmen think that victory is almost theirs but suddenly Cyborg bursts free, feeling empowered and totally in control of his actions. He tells them they had underestimated him and that he has been able to use the Element X inside his Mother Box to draw on power from the multiverse.
They tell him that he has no hope against their combined might but he tells them he is not alone and then frees his team mates. A fight breaks out and as the Batmen tell their respective opponents in the League that they had already killed each of them on their worlds and this will end the same, Cyborg then also releases the other heroes.
As the battle rages Cyborg frees Raven who he has realised is the voice he had heard and she is glad that she had persuaded him to believe in who he really is. He then tells the others that they need to escape and that his new found powers have shown him that these creatures are ghosts of dying worlds. Barabatos had anted to separate them but instead had brought the league closer together.
He then shows the others though his connection to the multiverse that they had been wrong and that these creatures were not Bruce’s fears – they were his regrets.
Cyborg then transports them to a nexus in the multiverse – the hypertime. He then tells the others that they have not won yet and that they must collect the rest of the Nth metal before Barbatos can obtain it. They then each boom-tube to various locations while Barbatos and the Batmen watch their efforts remotely, smiling in the knowledge that the heroes are unwittingly spreading the darkness throughout the universe…
