This limited series bridged the gap between the Injustice: Gods Among Us comic book series and the forthcoming new video game, Injustice 2. The title was released as a weekly Digital Comic in parallel with a print version.

The events of this issue lead directly into the Injustice 2 comic series.

The alternate reality featured in Injustice explored a world where heroes take justice into their own hands and become an authoritarian regime under the command of Superman.  Wonder Woman allies herself with Kal, meaning she is effectively a villain in this title.

Director Zack Snyder had intended his original two part Justice League movie, that was going to follow on from the events of ‘Batman versus Superman’, to be based on the events of Injustice. This authoritarian world controlled by the Man of Steel was even hinted at in a flash-forward “dream sequence” in the 2016 movie.

Synopsis

It’s Superman versus Superman in a final showdown for the liberation of the Injustice Earth.
