Synopsis
Since the dome fell around Gotham City, Wonder Woman has adapted well, doing outreach in the East End. Her boyfriend Steve Trevor, though, is suffering, missing the feeling of being a pilot, and flying in the sky – from which they’ve been cut off by the dome. Their friend Etta Candy is managing by having joined a cult – one of many that believes the dome was some kind of divine retribution. Unfortunately, her new found religious views are insinuating themselves on her charity work, and she’s begun indoctrinating the elderly woman she’s been looking after, to Diana’s frustration. Still, Diana’s not willing to disabuse the old woman of her notions, if they give her comfort from the inoperable brain tumour she suffers from.
Etta takes Vera, the old woman, to her church, where the priestess performs a healing – but the healing results in Vera’s collapsing in death. Though she doesn’t blame Etta or her church for what happened, Diana turns to Miranda, the priestess, and warns her to think about the consequences of her actions. Miranda is incredulous, but she is interrupted from berating Diana by a voice from beyond the dome.
It warns that the dome will soon come down, and champions from each of the cities on the planet Telos will have to fight each other for the survival of their homes and people. Hearing this, Diana warns the cultists to give up their dreams of angels from another place, and put their faith in the champions that were spoken of. Angrily, one of the cultists calls her a blasphemer and smashes a staff over Diana’s head.
Hearing the same warning from above, Steve Trevor realises that the battles between champions are intended to be to the death – and Diana is in danger.
The cultists attempt to drag an unconscious Diana down into a basement, but their actions have snapped Etta out of her devotion, and she tries to stop them. She is unable to take all of the cultists on, so she runs off to find some help.
Steve runs to Vera’s house, in search of Diana, but is surprised when the dome disappears, and reveals that he is very near the edge of a great cliff, and the dome had more than just separated them from the rest of the Earth – it had taken them to another planet entirely. Etta catches up to him and informs him of the attack on Diana, and they run off together to help her.
Diana wakes, suspended in a pit by her own Lasso. She finds, also, that her powers have returned. Nearby, the cultists hear the beating of wings, and assume that the angels they were awaiting have come.
Diana steels herself, planning to take down first whoever has been set to challenge her, and then to face Telos, who imprisoned all of Gotham and forced these battles in the first place.
Steve and Etta, meanwhile, discover that the cultists have all been murdered. Steve notices that they have puncture marks on their necks. That is the moment that the vampires of another world reveal themselves and capture Etta. Fortunately, Wonder Woman comes to their rescue. She abandons Steve to fend for himself to chase after the Joker, who has Etta. When she finds him, though, he has already bitten her.
