Many fans found Cassie a rather whiny, irritating character and could not bear to see her take over the mantle of Donna Troy – or indeed replace Vanessa Kapatelis, who many felt had been a more effective “little sister” character during the George Perez run and did not need replacing by the seemingly “pointless” Cassie.
