In both this issue and the previous we see a glimpse of the Monitor, a being who watches all of creation and who would play a major role in the forthcoming Crisis on Infinite Earths. This huge cross-over event would completely reboot the entire DC Universe and usher in the “post crisis” era, also known as the “Dark Age”. For Wonder Woman, this would see her being “killed off” and reborn.
Synopsis
The mind controlled league members return to Earth Two and attack their fellow team members. As a fight ensues Ian and Victoria try to reach their still controlled father. As Wonder Woman finally manages to ensnare the controlled leaguers with her lasso, they all turn their attention to try and help Joshua break free of his enslavement.
Just when it seems all hope has failed the other league members finally use the power of Wonder Woman’s lasso to see the truth and breaking free of their enslavement, join forces with their colleagues and together they finally manage to free Joshua.
But their victory is short lived as the Commander himself then attacks. As the combined might of all the heroes tries to send him back to his own dimension Harbinger and the Monitor, who have been monitoring these events on and off check in again. The distraction causes the Commander to lose his concentration momentarily and drop his mental defences.
The heroes are victorious as he finally explodes sending his essence across throughout all reality.
