Green Lantern, though injured, uses all of his energy to free Wonder Woman from the block of ice that has covered the lake. Lantern and the rest of the Justice League pull Diana out, but the ice keeps returning. Flash can’t vibrate her free. Martian Manhunter and Superman can’t burn her free. Superman uses his microscopic vision to see that the cold is far below absolute zero. Fortunately, Plastic Man has an idea; in which the ice is not directly on Wonder Woman’s skin, he slides into the small hole, coating Wonder Woman like a second skin. He then vibrates, creating a hairline fracture which the League exploit at Batman’s command.

After rescuing Wonder Woman, the resort is attacked again by the monsters. Superman tells the team to withdraw and leave him to fight. Superman fights the creatures with heat vision, the only known weakness, and they splatter him with an anaesthetic acid. As he’s about to pass out, Jade and Lantern pull him in with improvised fishing poles.

Inside the resort, the JLA barricade themselves, and realize, to their horror, that Wonder Woman is turning into one of the monsters and is immediately put for medical attention. Batman has Lantern and Jade set up security, and he sends Flash with a data recorder to take schematics of the resort. He tells Linda Park to keep the people calm. Batman then has J’onn go to speak with Kishana Lewis. He tells Plastic Man to go to the infirmary; Plastic Man is actually wounded from the battle, something that seems impossible even to him. Superman returns to the resort in which Batman notice his injuries, to which Superman tells Batman that he will be fine.

Superman explores Carmody’s Folly, and the structures of the resort, as well as his large collection of Indian artefacts. Batman and Flash also find that the resort is stocked heavily with supplies and fire implements.

The League starts to move into the basement. The doctors are given guns, and they tell Flash that Diana’s condition is worsening.

J’onn visits Kishana in the infirmary, and asks to again enter her mind. She agrees, and they are transported to the past, to the perspective of Abel Carmody. She sees Black Spirit Lake being evaporated by fire. They see Wonder Woman frozen. The wall in the real world explodes with a monster, and J’onn does his best to stave it off. Kishana uses a gun to blow the beast apart in many places, but Manhunter is slashed brutally across the face. Wonder Woman arrives just in time to save them from mores of the monsters, as does Superman and Green Lantern. They set the beasts in fire, and they retract. After this, Wonder Woman tells them that the monsters are after Kishana, who is reveal to be descendant of Abel Carmody, and they want her dead.

Meanwhile, it is revealed that the director of the hotel is working with the creatures.
