A side story regarding Zoom and The Cheetah sets up a forthcoming two part crossover with "The Flash". A return to form on the cover art front by J.G. Jones, although it kinda gives away how Diana defeats Briareos in the story itself! Many readers of course assumed that Diana's request of Athena was to restore her own eyesight, but some had already guessed that the selfless Amazon Princess was actually wanting the Goddess to turn Garibaldi's son back from stone.
Diana battles the huge and mighty Briareos and it seems Athena's champion faces
certain death. But when Zeus is given the chance to show Diana mercy he declines
and orders her to be slain as an example. Athena tells him he will regret the
decision and gives Diana a pre arranged signal. Diana then uses Medousa's head
to turn the monster into stone, thus winning the challenge!
Zeus is banished and Athena takes the throne Olympus. She offers Diana a reward
and the Amazing Amazon asks for just one thing - but the Goddess says that what
she asks for is the one thing Athena cannot give her - at least for now. Ominously,
she also tells Diana that the Amazon may regret not asking for something else
instead, because there is a storm gathering on the horizon that will test Wonder
Woman to her limits.
