Byrne's revisionist approach results in Hippolyta becoming part of the DC Universe's post crisis history and pre-dating her daughter's arrival on Man's World as Wonder Woman! Confusing or what?! Many fans disliked this change, feeling it once again undermined Diana's role as the first, true Wonder Woman, although some liked the way that the pre-crisis Golden Age version of the character had effectively been brought back from "non-existence", after effectively being wiped from the face of the DC Universe after the events of "Crisis on Infinite Earths".
Hippolyta returns to the present day after spending several years in the past
working with the original Justice Society of America as the "Golden Age"
Wonder Woman.
