This spectacular piece was commissioned as the site's new welcome page graphic.
It depicts Diana in the various costumes she has worn over her long career,
all done in Al's trademark style. A truly unique piece I'm sure you will agree.
When I first decided to commission this piece I had a very clear vision in my
mind of how it would be laid out. As is usually the case when working with Al
Rio, we normally discuss alternatives in sketch form first and he suggested
a slightly different approach, whereby the various incarnations of Diana would
be sitting or standing in different positions amongst the landscape of Themyscira.
Although I liked the idea, I preferred the simpler layout to maximise the impacts
of each costume.
In the interests of historical curiosity, below are the two preliminary layout sketches so you can see what the other piece might have looked like!
